Expressing our Thanks to the Municipal Police Officers

On 30th January, 2020, Coronavirus (COVID-19) was declared as Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organization. On 12th March, 2020, Trinidad and Tobago recorded its first case of COVID-19. Preliminary measures of public health and national security were undertaken by the government of Trinidad and Tobago. Thence, by virtue of Public Health (2019 Novel Coronavirus [2019-nCoV] (No.4) Regulations 2020 dated 27th March, 2020, the service of the Municipal Police was deemed an essential service in the time of this global pandemic.

The Commission would like to take this opportunity to commend our Municipal Police officers for carrying out a very difficult job under tremendously challenging circumstances in a truly professional manner. The Commission wishes to assure you that we have observed, appreciated and supported your work and will continue to do so even beyond the cessation of this pandemic. The Commission admires the manner in which you have behaved with discipline and restraint in the face of much provocation.

Please be rest assured that the Commission along with the citizenry of Trinidad and Tobago as well as you your beloved families are proud of you as you execute the dutiful responsibilities of a Municipal Police officer.

Please continue to protect and serve with pride and dignity in these very difficult times and once again thank you for everything that you are doing to uphold the rule of law.

The Commission applauds the Municipal Police Officers as an imperative category of this nation’s frontline workers!
